Liverpool FC U14/15s travelled to Poland last week to take part in the Premier League and Bundesliga Academy Tour 2017.

The young Reds journeyed to Krakow to take on Hertha Berlin, Legia Warsaw and MSK Zilina, with the trip also being heavily focused on education for the players.

Following on from a recent visit to the Academy from the Holocaust Educational Trust and survivor Zigi Shipper BEM, the players visited the Auschwitz II-Birkenau concentration camp before laying flowers, lighting candles and pausing to reflect.

On the trip to Poland, Liverpool’s head of education and welfare Phil Roscoe said: "This was yet another fantastic trip for the boys and very educational as the players were given in-depth background on the Holocaust and the wider historical context of World War Two.

“This follows on from the recent visit to the Academy from the Holocaust Educational Trust and survivor Zigi Shipper BEM. The presentation from Mr Shipper as well as this visit to Poland has hopefully educated all of the players on the harrowing experiences suffered by those in the Holocaust.”
