Trent Alexander-Arnold felt Liverpool dealt well with a ‘different’ test posed by Maribor on Wednesday.

Two weeks on from their historic 7-0 away victory over the Slovenian outfit, it took the Reds until the 49th minute to break the deadlock in the reverse Champions League fixture at Anfield.

Mohamed Salah’s opener was followed by further goals from Emre Can and Daniel Sturridge as Jürgen Klopp’s team claimed a 3-0 win that leaves them a point clear of Sevilla at the top of Group E ahead of their trip to Spain on November 21.

Alexander-Arnold believes Darko Milanic’s side were determined to be more resolute this time around and, as such, the teenager was satisfied with the way Liverpool went about sealing another three points.

“It was important to get the three points and I think it was a tough game, a lot tougher than the first game against Maribor, but we broke them down in the end and we came away with three goals, three points and a clean sheet and we’re delighted,” Alexander-Arnold told Liverpoolfc.com.

“I think this game they definitely came with a different game plan, to come and defend, but again we broke it down eventually.

“It took us until the second half, but eventually we came away with three goals and three points.”

Academy graduate Alexander-Arnold put in another assured display at right-back as well as providing the assist for Salah’s goal with an excellent cross, and he enjoyed another taste of Champions League football.

“The Champions League, it’s what everybody wants to play in, it’s the elite games and it’s what you want to play in whenever you get the chance,” he added.

“I’ve played quite a lot in the Champions League this season and it’s a different experience than league games, under the floodlights, but the objectives are still the same - you’ve got to go and get the three points and that’s what we’ve done today.”
