Liverpool and Arsenal are determined to sign Ivan Rakitic, whose Barcelona future is uncertain following the arrival of Philippe Coutinho.

Barcelona have finally signed Coutinho from Liverpool, landing the Brazilian for a huge £142million on Saturday evening.

However, the arrival of the 25-year-old may force Rakitic out of the club.

The Croatia international has been a regular ever since arriving from Sevilla in the summer of 2014, helping Barcelona win two La Liga titles as well as the Champions League in that time.

But Diario Gol claim Liverpool and Arsenal are eager to snap Rakitic up.

The 29-year-old could find himself out in the cold after Coutinho’s arrival.

Barcelona’s other midfielders have been in fine form this season, with Paulinho the pick of the bunch.

Andres Iniesta continues to shine despite his advancing years, while Sergio Busquets remains vital to the Catalan giants’ style of play.

And that may lead Rakitic to consider his options.

Diario Gol say Arsenal and Liverpool - as well as Serie A giants Juventus - are all keen to sign him at the end of the season.

Rakitic is supposedly open to a move away but will only consider his options after the World Cup, which kicks off in June.
