Liverpool have added Atalanta playmaker Alejandro Gomez to their wish list to replace Philippe Coutinho.

The Argentine No.10, is a dead-ball specialist who has scored seven goals this season with the Reds now keen, report Tuttosport.

Atalanta president Antonio Percassi has declared his star player is not for sale though, with La Dea battling for a European place.

Currently in seventh, Gian Piero Gasperini will be desperate to keep hold of his talisman, who has already endeared himself to Reds fans by starring at the heart of the 3-0 and 5-1 thrashings of Everton in the Europa League.

The Bergamo-based side will be confident of holding on to Gomez due to his contract extended last summer until 2022.

And at 29 years of age, Liverpool may be reluctant to fork out the huge fee that would be required to prize him away from the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia.

Atalanta have shown excellent negotiating prowess over the last year as AC Milan paid a £7.2m loan fee with an £18m obligation in 2019, as well as £22.5m for right-back Andrea Conti.
